With this blog, I aim to answer some of my own questions about sustainable food systems and health. The United States is facing rapidly growing obesity rates and ubiquitous, harmful food production practices. Reform is necessary on private, local and national scales in order to insure safe, fresh food in the future. I will discuss how innovation and policy change can allow governments and communities to address food security and health simultaneously. My goal is to include some interlocked issues and solutions without overwhelming the reader with too many perspectives and problems. I will use respected books about food systems, research articles, case studies, and documentaries in order to learn more and back up my claims.
